On Process, Play, and Purpose: Insights from the Minds Behind .raw Laboratory

When you first stumble upon .raw laboratory, there’s a quiet feeling that you’ve found something different. Not just another creative studio, but a space where ideas are allowed to breathe — raw, honest, and unfiltered. Founded on a deep belief in the power of process over perfection, .raw isn't here to chase trends or fit into boxes. They’re here to explore, to question, and most of all, to create with intention.

At its core, .raw is a creative laboratory — part studio, part playground — where concept meets craft and experimentation is always welcome. Their work spans design, visual storytelling, and brand identity, but what sets them apart is their philosophy: to embrace the imperfect, the unfinished, the becoming. They believe that creativity should be a living, evolving thing — not something to be polished into oblivion.

1. Your work seems to blend design, storytelling, and strategy so seamlessly. How do you approach a new project from concept to execution?

We always start by asking: what’s the story here, how can we bring value to the end consumer? For us, concept and execution evolve together. We explore what makes a product, space, or brand truly resonate, then look for unexpected but honest ways to elevate it. Our process is structured but intuitive, we move fast but with intention. Mood-boards, sketches, prototypes, and a lot of shared notes later, we arrive at something that feels simple, has substance and is highly functional. Strategy is built in from the start it’s never an afterthought.

2. The aesthetic of RAW Studio is quite distinct minimal, raw, and impactful. Can you share a bit about how you developed this visual language?

Rob and I draw a lot of inspiration from Brutalist architecture and Ando’s stripped-back minimalism. We're always tuned into the latest in fashion, art, and tech, so our work is a blend of personal taste and sharp market awareness. The result is design that resonates visually, emotionally, and functionally. We’re drawn
to contrast, texture, and utility. Our aesthetic is minimal, but never dull every choice is intentional. The simplicity in our work isn’t just a style, it’s a mindset. We strip away the excess but leave space for feeling. That clarity runs through everything we do—from branding and product design to interiors and campaigns.
It’s about staying grounded, cutting the noise, and creating work that moves forward with purpose.

3. RAW Studio also has its own clothing collection what inspired you to create wearable pieces, and how do they reflect the studio’s overall philosophy?

.raw experiment is our first drop a collection of objects and wearables that reflect our aesthetic and love for detail and function. It’s about taking everyday things and adding a twist. We add elements that most companies skip for cost reasons hidden USB keys in jackets, metal hooks on coffee bags, concrete-look
cups, premium packaging because we believe details and storytelling matter. Every piece in the collection is functional, thoughtful, and made to last.
The collection includes:
• .cup – concrete-look coffee cup
• .camera – disposable B&W film camera
• .coffee – specialty roasted beans
• .cap – in three styles
• .uniform jacket – with hidden USB, only 40 made
• .t-shirt – black or white
• .design department tee – type-focused
• nord x .raw – a custom drink collab with NORD hard seltzer
We dropped the first collection already, (it’s currently available in our physical store) and we’re launching our
online store next month ( you can sign-up for the launch here: rawlab.co/store ).
The next collection includes a brainstorm umbrella, hoodie, water bottle, furniture, and collabs with our
client’s brands.

4. Your new space, the .raw laboratory, blends a showroom, a concept store, a café, and a creative lab how did this multidimensional idea come together, and what kind of experience do you hope visitors take away from it?

We wanted a space that reflected the way we think and work…layered, intentional, and open. The .raw laboratory is all of that. It’s a concept store, archive, design studio, coffee spot, and community hangout. Visitors can experience our .raw experiment line, exclusive interior pieces, and curated products from our
clients and partners like eualitygrafrances.com, transpa.rent and dbjourney.com. At the opening, we served cocktails in lab tubes, food on lab trays, and coffee in .raw cups. Our team wore lab coats, and the whole thing turned into a low-key day party. That’s the vibe we want to keep inspiring but relaxed, with monthly creative hangouts (we’re on edition 27 already). It’s a space where people can connect, create, and recharge.

5. You’ve collaborated with a variety of brands — how do you choose your partners, and what values
do you look for in them?

It’s all about alignment. As a boutique studio rooted in luxury and craftsmanship, we’re highly intentional about who we work with. We take on a limited number of clients each year because every project deserves care, precision, and focus. We’re drawn to brands that value innovation, intention, and quality those who
see the big picture and appreciate the beauty in the details. Craftsmanship is core to everything we do, but so is hospitality. We believe great work comes from creating space for real connection, trust, and collaboration. The best partnerships happen when both sides bring something meaningful to the table and
are open to pushing boundaries. We’re not here to follow trends or do things the “normal” way we’re here to create work that’s honest & cuts through the noise.

6. What role does sustainability or conscious design play in your creative process and business decisions?

It’s built into how we think. We don’t label ourselves as a “sustainable studio or brand,” but we take conscious design seriously. That means small-batch production, choosing responsible materials, minimising waste, and making sure everything we put out has a purpose. Our packaging is thoughtful and reusable.
We’re always looking for ways to do better not just talk about it.

7. What’s next for RAW Studio? Are there any upcoming projects or ideas you’re especially excited about?

Yes! Our online store launches next month, and we just dropped the final cut of our .raw experiment video.
We’ve got new product releases on the way, plus some really exciting collabs. On the studio side, we’ve
signed some new exciting clients and we’re pushing more experimental formats with AI. The .raw laboratory
is also growing into a full creative ecosystem, and we’re building it day by day.
